'Amazing Spider-Man' News: Marc Webb Shares Thoughts on New 'Spider-Man' Franchise

When Sony first announced that it had plans for a Spider-Man reboot after the end of the first franchise in 2007, fans of the original franchise were quite skeptical.

Even with the great work of the casting directors in snagging Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone as Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy, The Amazing Spider-Man did not really catch on the way that the first movies did.

Now, there is a brand new Spider-Man coming thanks to the new deal between Marvel and Sony.

However, as Marc Webb, the director of The Amazing Spider-Man, told MTV News at San Diego Comic Con, while promoting his new television series, Limitless, he still stand by his version of Spider-Man.

"Those films were my own films," said Webb. "They were very personal. A lot of people put a lot of effort into them -- and Andrew and Emma and I, the producers worked very hard on them... it was a really rewarding experience in many ways."

Webb also commented on the Sony hacks that took place last December, which he described as "very difficult to navigate", and complicated things. "The reality is I don't know a lot of what went on," continued Webb. "I had heard that it was gonna go back to Marvel and that made me curious to see what was going to unfold.

When asked whether or not he would ever return to the Spider-Man franchise, Webb had an ambiguous, though somewhat optimistic response.

"Who knows? Never say never." Perhaps this means that he has not been completely scared away from working on films.

However, Limitless will be premiering on CBS on September 22nd.
