Amal Clooney News: 'Courting Trouble' Novel Character Partially Based on Actor George Clooney's Wife
George Clooney's gorgeous barrister wife Amal Clooney now has a new novel being written about her. According to reports, Kathy Lettle, an Australian-born author and friend of the human rights lawyer for several years, has partially based her romantic legal thriller "Courting Trouble" on Amal.
According to IB Times, talking about the character, Lettle recently told the People magazine, "It's about a woman in her 30s in the legal world trying to change the world and make it a better place." She admitted that the heroine of her novel, Matilda "Tilly" Devine, is based on the 37-year-old Amal. Several reviews have described Tilly a "leggy chocoholic barrister," "the alleged Amal surrogate," "straight A, strait-laced" and a "dyed-in-the-wool feminist."
The report states that Lette and Amal became friends through the author's husband Geoffrey Robertson QC, founder and joint head of Doughty Street Chambers, where the lawyer currently works. According to Lette, Amal is not just stunningly gorgeous, but also very charming, funny and self-deprecating. The author added that celebrity has not changed Amal in any way and that she is still very warm and down-to-earth.
While The Daily Telegraph described the lawyer as "game, gossipy, knows absolutely everyone," Lette said watching George and Amal is pleasurable. The author told Vanity Fair that interacting with the couple is like "watching a rom-com in front of you." Recently, Lette had invited the couple for dinner and said it was very clear that the two are madly in love with each other.
Earlier, talking about the dinner date between the two couples, the London-based broadcaster had said in a lighter vein, "[George Clooney] clears the table and stacks the dishwasher."
Author of 11 international bestsellers, Lette has known Amal for several years and remarked that it was not surprising that the Hollywood heartthrob had fallen for the 37-year-old lawyer. Talking about her friend Amal, Lette said she was wonderful, intelligent, beautiful, kind, kindhearted girl and George was lucky.
