'Alien 5' Movie News, Spoilers: Plot Altered to Avoid Story Contradiction with ‘Prometheus’
Speculations have been flooding the Internet since 20th Century Fox declared that the production of Neill Blomkamp's proposed directorial venture, 'Alien 5', will be starting soon. While speculations have been numerous and varied, one thing is certain - it will be essential to alter the plot of the upcoming movie, as Ridley Scott, the director of the original 'Alien' movie, is also making 'Prometheus 2,' a spin-off of the first 'Alien' film.
Christian Today reports that it was necessary for Blomkamp to make changes to 'Alien 5' to ensure that the movie doesn't disagree with the events in Scott's 'Prometheus' films.
Talking about the change, Blomkamp said, "I changed the one thing [Scott] felt was bumping Prometheus a little bit. One thing that makes me feel good about it is that Ridley is producing it. He likes the idea of what I want to make."
In addition, it is reported that there was a little indecision regarding the title of the forthcoming 'Alien' film. According to Blomkamp, he has sent the title proposal to Scott and is still does not know if it will be approved for eventual use. He explained that he cannot reveal the title yet, as it will reveal a lot regarding the plot of the film.
However, Blomkamp has confirmed that his film will overlook the events of 'Alien 3' as well as 'Alien Ressurection.' The events of these two films may possibly have still occurred, but still 'Alien 5' is unlikely to work around them. In fact, ignoring them and planting a new seed will keep Ripley, Hicks, and Newt alive.
Apart from the confirmation that the film is moving forward and will be directed by Blomkamp, nothing more has been confirmed.
Initially, when Blomkamp posted concept art for his purported film on his social media accounts, he wanted Siguorney Weaver to return to reprise the character of Ellen Ripley. However, as of now there has been no confirmation whether or not the actress is still attached to the project. Nevertheless, some rumors claimed that Weaver is interested in reprising her iconic role.
In addition, 'Alien 5' is also said to bring back Newt and Hicks, but the producers have yet to release a casting list. Even Michael Biehn has not confirmed or denied rumors regarding his return to the franchise.
