Alfonso Ribeiro News: DWTS Champion Tapped to Host 'America's Funniest Home Videos'
It would seem like ABC has a lot of resources to pick the next host of the network's longest running primetime show, 'America's Funniest Home Videos'. After the 4-year stint from Tom Bergeron finally ended, it has just been confirmed that 'Dancing With The Stars' Season 19 winner Alfonso Ribeiro will be taking over for AFV's upcoming new season.
Ribeiro once made the audience laugh during his time as a contestant at the hit dancing competition, when he and his pro-dancer partner Whitney Carson had a memorable moment on stage. Carson accidentally kneed Ribeiro on his groin while he laid down on the stage in pain.
It was definitely something unforgettable and funny for many and now, it seems like Ribeiro will make more people laugh every Sunday as he is the new host for 'America's Funniest Home Videos' which is currently running for 26 seasons already.
The news came out during the DWTS show as Ribeiro was on stage with the former AFV host Bergeron announcing Ribeiro's new stint. "You have given me so much love and support in doing this," Ribeiro said to Bergeron at that time adding, "I'm so proud."
And of course, Bergeron, being the funny host that he is recalled Ribeiro's embarrassing moment with his partner Carson saying, "I only have one thing to say-and you already know this from having to dance with Witney-wear a cup!" Bergeron jokingly said.
Well, all hope goes to Ribeiro for the success of his new undertaking. The show's executives are excited and confident as well for the new host as they previously released a statement praising Ribeiro for his craft.
"After receiving hundreds of inquiries, stacks of video submissions and a very close audition race, one smile, one funny and sincere delivery become our standout favorite-Alfonso Ribeiro," said Vin Di Bona, executive producer in a statement adding, "We look forward to Alfonso leading AFV into the next generation of family friendly viewership."
