UFC 2015 News: Rousey Comments on Possible Third Fight with Miesha Tate Ahead of UFC 190
UFC women's bantamweight title contender Bethe Correia has talked boldly about her chances against bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey ahead of their UFC 190 matchup, but despite her brash claims, Rousey is already talking about the possible third fight with rival Miesha Tate, as MMA Junkie reports.
"If she's the best competitor and she's who the fans want to see then, yeah, I'm extremely interested in doing it," the undefeated fighter said during a recent media teleconference.
Tate won a unanimous decision against Jessica Eye last Saturday, and UFC president Dan White said following the fight that Tate has earned No. 1 contender status with her win.
I'm not surprised (she beat Eye)," Rousey said. "She's a great competitor and athlete. I've always said there's amazing things about her as a fighter."
Rousey first defeated Tate to win the UFC women's bantamweight title, then submitted her again during their rematch. To her credit, Tate has been the lone fighter to take Rousey past the first round.
"I need these other girls. It's not like I can do this by myself; I need a dance partner, and the analogy I use a lot is these girls are like plants. Sometimes, you can grow a crop and you can harvest it year after year like Miesha, and sometimes you harvest it once and it will never grow back - like I don't think Bethe will ever come back after this. But I think this might be the final season I can harvest the Tate crop."
As MMA Junkie points out, before a third fight with Tate, Rousey still needs to get past the brash Correia, who has done an excellent job stirring up fan interest for their UFC 190 fight.
Her comments like telling Rousey not to kill herself after she beat her has seemingly angered the dominant champion, who has vowed to punish the Brazilian for her words.
