Agnes Hedengard News: 19-Year-Old Swedish Model Talks Fashion Industry and its Harsh Body Ideals

A 19-year-old Swedish model named Agnes Hedengard recently made thousands of news feeds and breaking social media for opening up one of the most talked about issues in the fashion industry today, and that its harsh body ideals.

The model, Hedengard, had been modelling for about five years now and as she talked about being rejected by agencies for being too big, Hedengard looked very thin in the video and reportedly is 5-foot-11 and has a Body Mass Index of 17.5. A "normal" BMI for women ranges from 18.5 to 25.

Indeed she is quite thin enough to be considered but unfortunately, Hedengard reveals that she doesn't have projects lately for being rejected because of her measurements. "Up to this day, I don't get any more jobs because the industry thinks I'm too big," she says in the video that was uploaded on Youtube.

"They think my butt is too big and they think my hips are too wide, so according to the model industry, you cannot look like this. You need to be thinner," she added. Although she didn't mention which agencies or companies rejected her, she however opened once again the issue that had long been tackled and apparently still ignored.

So when others might think that the modelling industry is already being open to other body types, they aren't fully there yet according to Hedengard. "My purpose of this video is to show everyone that a big part of the model industry think that this is too big, you should not look like this. it's absurd and I hate it. And I just want other people to see this," she continued adding, "But love yourself, don't let anyone tell you any different."
