'Agents of SHIELD' Season 4 News, Trailer Recap: New Video Teases Introduction Of Ghost Rider

The upcoming season of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." is set to introduce Ghost Rider, the popular Marvel antihero. Robbie Reyes, a.k.a. Ghost Rider will be played by Gabriel Luna, as revealed by the producers of the series at the San Diego Comic-Con.

Following the announcement about the new character, the "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." panel provided a sneak peek video for season 4, showing the SHIELD logo burning away and leaving behind a skull image bearing the tagline, "Vengeance comes this fall."

Season 4 marks the first time that the Marvel antihero will be adapted for live-action TV series. He was previously played by Nicholas Cage in two Marvel movies, "Ghost Rider" in 2007 and "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance" in 2012.

Ghost Rider is known as a skeletal entity who possesses the body of whoever is the acting Ghost Rider. The cursed person is consumed in hellfire at night, turning his head into a flaming skull. He travels on a motorcycle that is also ablaze and has the ability to defy gravity and run at speed that is faster than any other vehicle. He is also known for his "Penance Stare," which he uses to make guilty souls feel the pain that they caused others. Ghost Rider is indestructible by bullets, knives and other weapons.

At the Comic-Con, "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." executive producer Jeph Loeb said, "Season 4 will unquestionably be the series' biggest, most ambitious story yet, and it all begins with the introduction of one of our greatest legacy characters in Ghost Rider."

The series returns on September 20, 10:00 P.M. on ABC.
