'Agents Of SHIELD' Season 4 News: ABC Pushes Back Air Time?

The ABC network has moved Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." from its former 9:00 P.M. Tuesday timeslot into the 10:00 P.M. time slot, citing the desire to tell more mature stories as the main reason.

The series is the only remaining entry of the network into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and this is the second time that the network has pushed back its air time later into the evening. After its first season aired at 8:00 P.M., its two succeeding seasons were pushed to 9:00 P.M.

At the San Diego Comic-Con International, head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb told Comic Book that the series is "pretty violent for something at 9 o'clock."

"By going to 10 o'clock, we're going to be taking on just a little bit more edge, a little but more grit. The show is pretty violent for something at 9 o'clock, but when we get to 10 o'clock, we're going to be just a little hair of something that I think people are going to really enjoy," he said.

The change in its narrative is not the only change coming to the show. The epilogue to the "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 3 finale teased that in the upcoming season, Daisy Johnson will be on the run after leaving S.H.I.E.L.D. and committing an illicit act that will also bring her to the attention of the media.

"You got a little tease at the end of the last season that clearly something's happened to Daisy. She seems to be on her own. That dang media has decided to name her Quake, so we have to find out if that's a good thing or a bad thing--and clearly, S.H.I.E.L.D. is now hunting her," said Loeb.

"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 4 premieres on Sept. 20, 10:00 P.M. on ABC.
