'Agent Carter' Plot Details: Double Episode Debut Ranks Well in Ratings & Viewership
The premiere of Marvel's miniseries, 'Agent Carter' turned out to be a complete success, not only for the comic book conglomerate, but for ABC. The network released a double episode special on Tuesday for the show, and ratings would have us believe viewers took to it fairly well.
Being the "fill-in" show for Marvel's series 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.', along with being their first female-led show, the series had a lot to live up to.
For those that don't know, viewers were reintroduced to the character, Peggy Carter, from 'Captain America: The First Avenger'.
People Magazine offered a short synopsis of the series: "After the events of 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger, Agent Carter follows Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) as she navigates New York City in the 1940s as a double agent for the Strategic Scientific Reserve - a precursor to S.H.I.E.L.D."
The show took very little time working fans into the character and story, as we are immediately immersed in Peggy's covert mission, life at work, friends, and even villains, however this works for the show. Each episode flowed seamlessly and made its own way into the Marvel cinematic universe almost effortlessly.
Haley Atwell luckily didn't have to hold the show up herself. A lot of the other cast members helped bring this 1940's thriller show to life.
"Joining the cast is Chad Michael Murray (One Tree Hill) as Jack Thompson, another of Carter's unhelpful co-workers; Shea Whigham (Boardwalk Empire) as Roger Dooley, the Deputy Director of the Strategic Scientific Reserve; Lyndsy Fonseca (Nikita) as Angie Martinelli, a wholly endearing diner waitress who Carter befriends (and we see too little of); and James D'Arcy (Cloud Atlas) as Edwin Jarvis, the all-too human butler of Howard Stark, and Carter's sidekick/partner in "crime", reports Screenrant.
If this premiere was any indicator for the next 7 weeks, the series will only be getting better and better.
