‘Agent Carter’ Season 2 News: Executive Producers Explain Darkforce Explained; Hint at Peggy’s Romance
Even as fans of Marvel's 'Agent Carter' remain eager to know more about the events in the upcoming season of show on ABC, the executive producers of the series recently teased in an interview that 'Agent Carter' Season 2 will have romance and Darkforce.
Meanwhile, in a different interview, cast members Hayley Atwell and James D'Archy also talked about some elements of the Season 2 plot.
Quoting the show's executive producer Michele Fazekas, IB Times reports that a new element from the comic books called Darkforce will be introduced in the upcoming season of the television series as well as in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time. Talking to ComicBookResources, Fazekas clarified that Darkforce is a substance that "affects different people differently." In 'Agent Carter' Season 2, fans will see that one of the main quests for Peggy (Atwell) is to find out what exactly this substance is.
Fazekas further stated that when some characters of the show learn about Darkforce, they are not certain what it precisely is. In fact, these characters had labored hard on the subject to learn about its properties, for instance, whether it is a solid, liquid or smoke. However, Fazekas did not offer further details regarding what Darkforce is exactly.
It is possible that Darkforce will have some relation to energy research. According to executive producer Tara Butters, the 1940s is the time when scientists researched atomic energy and people were seeking newer sources of energy. Fazekas said that in the upcoming season of 'Agent Carter,' even as scientists are trying to discover a new source of energy, they may possibly stumble upon this new substance.
Meanwhile, it is possible that Peggy may also meet some new people next year with whom she may get romantically involved. According to Fazekas, Peggy's new relationship will be "complicated" and it won't be a common situation where she meets someone new and falls in love.
TVOverMind quotes Atwell as saying that 'Agent Carter' Season 2 will be "lots of fun!" According to the actress, Peggy had moved on from the death of Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and is "at a better place in her life." She further said that now her character is preparing to get romantically involved with other people.
In addition, Peggy will also possess more self-confidence and will fight "a bit harder" in "Agent Carter" Season 2. Atwell said the character had proved her capabilities in the show's first season and is now well aware of her own value as an agent. Atwell added that in spite of Peggy's achievements, she will still be facing the social limitations of the 1940s.
