'Age Of Empires 2 HD' Expansion News: Pre-Order Now Available

The "Age of Empires 2HD" expansion will be launched on Dec. 19 but pre-orders are now available for those who want to be among the first to get their hands on the DLC.

The "Age of Empires 2HD" expansion will bring players to Asia, and those who participated in the open beta in the past months would immediately be familiar with the new upgrades and gameplay. One of the results of the testing was that the developer cut the desyncs by 90%.

"With today's announcement of Rise of the Rajas, we're also pushing these performance upgrades live to all of our players for free," the website said. "Among other things, this makes multiplayer matches much more stable, AND we've added multiplayer restore back in, so if you ever DO lose a match in progress to a desync, you can get it back and pick up where you left off!"

With the upcoming "Age of Empires 2HD" expansion, the studio has set some events to celebrate. For instance, on Dec. 17 and 18, there will be the Battle of Angkor tournament featuring the best players from all over the world. The event will be streamed live for those who could not make the trip.

Second, from this day forward, you can head on to the Forgotten Empires blog for some daily updates prior to the "Age of Empires 2HD" expansion release date. You can see four new civilizations, a new map and also some Easter eggs from the developers themselves.

Finally, there will be a "countdown-to-launch" stream which will feature some guests and developers of the game on Dec. 19. But this will only be open to those who have Twitch or Beam accounts.
