Actress Shares Journey Through Addiction, Abortion, & Promiscuity to Finding Faith and Helping Others in New Book [VIDEO]

Shari Rigby

Actress, author, speaker Shari Rigby's inspiring new book, Beautifully Flawed, traces her journey to Christian faith and nationwide ministry from years of promiscuity, addiction and unhappy relationships-one leading to an unwanted pregnancy.

Her message is simple, profound and full of hope.

"Our life journeys are beautifully flawed," Shari writes. "We have all received certain talents and gifts and a passion that runs deep in our hearts to fulfill a calling. Each of us has value, and God has made us special and with purpose. Life will be full of challenges, but how we use those challenges makes a difference and helps make us."

From BroadStreet Publishing, Beautifully Flawed releases March 2.  Written with Claire Yorita Lee, it is available now for preorder.

With courageous honesty, Beautifully Flawed unveils Shari's teenage pregnancy and unhappy marriage, drug addiction and search for self worth in relationships, career and money.

It shows the life-changing encounter with Christ that enabled her to trust Him and overcome challenge and disappointment.

Today Shari Rigby is a busy actress with two films slated for release in 2015. She's a happy wife and mom. And every year she speaks to thousands of women in churches, at maternity homes and in pregnancy centers-a far cry from her rebellious teen years and young adulthood.

Sensing God leading her to try acting, Shari met early success.

"I was getting into acting at the age most women retire," she says.

Bitter obstacles followed, including life-threatening surgery. But it was these "beautiful flaws" that opened the door for her to find God's special call.

She found her purpose as she read the script for her acclaimed role in OCTOBER BABY-as a woman whose attempted abortion failed. Years later she's forgiven by the child she tried to abort. That film inspired Shari to speak out about her own abortion experience and the years of silent regret.

Today Shari encourages women nationwide to embrace their "beautifully flawed" pasts and let God use any past to shape their present and future. Additionally, Shari founded The Women in My World: a women's group focused on identity, purpose, ministry and living life in Hollywood.
