Donna Douglas Death News: Elly May Clampett of 'The Beverly Hillbillies' Dies at Age 81

New reports have confirmed that Donna Douglas, known for her role in the classic television show 'The Beverly Hillbillies', has passed away at the age of 81 in her own home on January 1. TMZ reports that the legendary '60s actress died with her friends and family close and by her bedside.

The unfortunate news was confirmed to TMZ by Douglas' own granddaughter. For those that may not be familiar, Donna Douglas starred in all nine season of the classic '60s series 'The Beverly Hillbillies', and even returned for the reunion movie in 1981.

On a side note, the actress also appeared in several other popular television shows, such as 'The Twilight Zone', 'Mister Ed', 'The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet', 'Route 66', and 'Adam 12'.

It's also important to note that Donna Douglas also co-starred next to Elvis Presley in 'Frankie and Johnny'.

Beyond that, Douglas was also known for some legal issues aside from her legendary career as an actress. In the '90s, she sued Disney for allegedly stealing her idea for the hit film 'Sister Act'.

She also sued Mattel toys for a Barbie doll they made in her likeness without her permission. While Elly May Clampett may have lost the 'Sister Act' lawsuit, she managed to settle on the Barbie doll case with Mattel.

In regards to Donna Douglas' background, the actress was born in Pride, LA in 1933. She resided in Zachary, LA for most of her life, and attended St. Gerard High School, a Roman Catholic school, where she played softball and basketball.

Last but not least, she was a "Miss Baton Rouge" and was named "Miss New Orleans" in 1957. Fans and non fans alike should remember Donna Douglas in their prayers as they wish her family a gradual transition through their time of mourning.
