Aaron Hernandez Trial Update: New Statement Comes to Light about Firearm Use
Alexander Bradley, a former friend of Aaron Hernandez, became the latest person to link the former New England Patriots Star to a gun. The latest development brings the total number of people who have done so to at least six, with five previous people suggesting that Hernandez had access to firearms, the Boston Globe reports.
Bradley said that four months before Odin l. Lloyd was fatally shot in Massachusetts, Hernandez held a gun that resembled a Glock when he was in Florida. The 25-year-old has pleaded not guilty to murder and weapons charges back in June 2013 for the killing of Lloyd, whose body was found in an industrial park near Hernandez's North Attleborough home.
According to the report, Bradley told jurors that he took a trip with Hernandez to Florida in February 2013 where he saw a man hand a gun to Hernandez in a hotel room. Bradley said the gun "appeared to be a Glock."
Bradley also has a pending civil lawsuit against Hernandez stating that the athlete shot him in the eye during that Florida trip. He is also in custody in Connecticut, awaiting trial on an unrelated gun charge.
During the cross examination, defense lawyer Charles Rankin attacked Bradley's credibility, mentioning that he did not mention seeing Hernandez with a gun in Florida back when he was questioned in December.
The Boston Globe report also adds that Rankin brought to the court's attention records that showed Bradley told investigators that he sold marijuana to Hernandez, only to take the opposite stance a week later at a deposition saying, "I've never been his provider, no sir."
Apart from the Florida gun testimony, Bradley told jurors that Hernandez was offended when Lloyd walked straight past him without a word during a party in December 2012.
After the current trial, Hernandez will also be facing a separate indictment on double murder charges in relation to two gunned down men in Boston back in 2012.
