Aaron Hernandez Murder Trial News: Former NFL Star Charged with Witness Intimidation
Aaron Hernandez, former New England Patriot who has been recently convicted of murder faces some more charges. Apparently, he intimidated a witness in a 2012 double murder case.
Hernandez apparently shot the person who witnessed the murders of Daniel de Abreu and Safrio Furtago in Boston. Hernandez was subsequently charged with witness intimidation on Monday.
The witness whom Hernandez shot was Alexander Bradley, the same man who sued Hernandez in civil court. Bradley also served as a witness for the prosecution in the case for the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd.
Bradley accused Hernandez of shooting him in the face and leaving him to die.
The actual shooting took place outside of Massachusetts, the state in which Hernandez was convicted of murder.
However, the Suffolk District Attorney's Office spokesman confirms that Hernandez can be prosecuted in Boston anyway, because he clearly intended to interfere with a criminal investigation.
The maximum sentence for the charge is 10 years in prison. Hernandez has already faced two counts of first degree murder and of armed assault.
He has faced a single count of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm, as well.
After he was convicted in the murder of Odin Lloyd about a month ago, Hernandez was sent to the Massachusetts Correctional Institution in Cedar Junction in Walpole Massachusetts.
He was placed on suicide watch and put in isolation from other inmates last month.
In the shooting death of Lloyd, a semi professional football player and landscaper, a jury convicted Hernandez on first degree murder and several gun related charges.
Ernest Wallace and Carlos Ortiz have been accused of being accessories and face other charges, also related to the death of Lloyd.
