iPhone 6 and 6 Plus Problems & Fixes: 5 Ways to Fix Common Apple Device Issues
It's no surprise that the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus have pushed the phablet industry up a notch with numerous consumers leaning towards the idea that the bigger the phone, the better the usage. While there are numerous things to enjoy with this latest device, it is undeniable that some users have experienced technical problems with no direct help, but here are five fixes for common iPhone 6 problems:
The iPhone Bendgate
With the new iPhones being modeled in a thinner version from older predecessors they are at risk for various issues like the popular iPhone Bendgate problem. This has frustrated many iPhone 6 and 6 Plus users during the first release. Reports revealed that users found their iPhones in this state had placed it under too much weight.
Fix: Upon purchase, users should consider including an iPhone case that can be sturdy enough to avoid any bending problems. Also, the housing should be able to protect the device from other accidents which could place damages like scratches and cracks on the phone.
Rapid Battery Drain
The iPhone 6 was featured to have up to 1810 mAH battery that normally lasts an average 14 hours while the 6 Plus goes above by containing a 2916 mAH battery that can last for 24 hours. Notably, users have reported that the battery couldn't last through the end of the day.
Fix: Common practices still apply such as lowering brightness, turning off Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. What would be useful to extend battery life is an external battery pack.
iPhone Red Screen
This usually occurs upon starting the device just before the Apple Logo would flash into the screen. While this would just resolve and disappear, some users have reported that the red screen would ultimately put their phone into that state and never turn off.
Fix: Users can hold on the Sleep/Wake button for 10 seconds to restart the device. Normally, the logo would appear without any of the Red screen. If it still occurs, users can press the Sleep/Wake button while the phone is connected to a Mac with a running iTunes.
Unresponsive Touchscreen
Users have complained that despite the device being top of the line, they still experience sluggishness on the device's touchscreen which leads to the feature not responding at all.
Fix: What they can do is to restart the device by pressing the Sleep/Wake Button for 10 seconds. Hard-resets don't reliably work but there are successes after Resetting All Settings (Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings).
Can't hear during calls
Many reports have come in that users cannot hear anything from the other end of their call. Sometimes calls would come in muffled or patchy even when the volume is turned up.
Fix: Remove the device on Bluetooth via Setting or users can try disabling the Phone Noise Cancellation feature (Settings > General > Accessibility). If those are done, restart the device by pressing the Sleep/Wake button for 10 seconds.
If none of the fixes help, the best advice is to seek help from Apple technical service in stores or through their hotline.
