5.5-Inch iPhone 6 vs 4.7-Inch iPhone 6 Rumors: Release Date, Price, Specs and Features Comparison
The purported iPhone 6, Apple's upcoming smartphone and the most anticipated smartphone this year, will be available in two sizes, which are likely to have dissimilar features as well as specifications.
However, both the iPhone 6 variants are likely to have enhanced resolutions - at least a three-fold increase in pixel display. It is speculated that the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 will have a pixel display at 416-p density, while it will be 365-p density for the larger iPhone 6.
In fact, rumors as well as validated features and specs of the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch display variants of the iPhone 6 have already gone viral on the Internet. Some of the differences between the two versions are presented below.
Release Date
According to Ming-Chi Kuo, a security analyst, the larger iPhone 6 version (5.5-inch) will be launched sometime early in 2015 or a limited number of this iPhone 6 may be released "after mid-fourth quarter" (around mid-November) owing to production issues. He says that the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 will be launched earlier - sometime around Fall 2014.
Another report in TechRadar says that both versions of the iPhone 6 will be launched simultaneously during the Fall. CNET, on the other hand, suggests that going by history of iPhone launches, a September launch may be expected for both iPhone 6 versions.
Price
People desiring to own an iPhone 6 should be prepared to pay a higher price, says GSM Insider. According to a flyer, whose snap was taken by a Weibo user, the price of the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 will be around $850, while that of the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 is likely to be around $1040. Although Apple has not confirmed anything in this regard, the price difference between the two versions is likely to be around $200.
Specs and Features
While both versions are expected to be slimmer as well as thinner, the larger iPhone 6 will have more features, but be more expensive. In addition to a bigger display, it is also likely to have certain features, which will be missing in the 4.7-inch version.
MacRumors states that the larger iPhone 6 version will come with an optical image stabilization feature that will lessen blur due to camera shakes. In addition, it may be the only iPhone model to get the possible LCD backlight, sapphire crystal display and 128 GB storage.
Apple Insider reports that the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 is likely to incorporate the "middle-mount open-loop voice coil motor" feature, which will control the movement of the camera.
Apple may also reintroduce the Touch ID fingerprint senor on both iPhone 6 versions, which are also likely to support the 802.11ac Wi-Fi standards.
