2017 GMC Sierra 2500HD Pickup Truck News: Full Specs List Released
General Motors released images for the 2017 GMC Sierra 2500HD pickup truck in June this year, but the specs only hit the news just recently.
One of the good news for the 2017 GMC Sierra 2500HD pickup truck is found under the hood with its all-new Duramax V-8 turbo-diesel engine capable of hitting 445 horsepower and 910 torque. That's supposedly a 12 percent increase in HP and 19 percent more torque than its predecessor.
According to GM Authority, the heavy-duty truck has now a new air intake that will help cool down the engine even when maneuvering a challenging terrain. The induction system reportedly underwent a rigorous testing method based on real-world driving conditions to ensure optimum performance.
Here are a few other specs for the 2017 GMC Sierra 2500HD pickup truck:
- Radiator capacity was increased over previous models to provide enhanced powertrain cooling performance.
- Driveline enhancements were made to increase strength and improve reliability. These enhancements include a stronger front propeller shaft and larger U-joints.
- Stabilitrak with Hill Start Assist, Trailer Sway Control and Traction Control.
GM shared the news about the new Duramax diesel engine on the 2017 GMC Sierra 2500HD pickup truck being the quietest idling engine in the lineup, largely due to the acoustic-treated rocker covers and the fuel system. This also extends to the cabin where the manufacturer is introducing some innovations such as aerodynamic exterior mirrors, triple door seals, as well as the hydraulic body and engine mounts.
The 2017 GMC Sierra 2500HD pickup truck doesn't scrimp on safety, either, with six airbags, front park and rear park assist, lane departure warning, forward collision alert and safety alert driver seat.
