After almost 50 years, the Ford GT has finally been given a makeover. Originally based on the iconic styling of the 50 year old Ford GT40, the new Ford GT has definitely added some modern flair to a very historically admired figure.
But is it only paint deep?
The new Ford GT concept is packing all sorts of modern goodies like carbon-fiber construction, active aero dynamics, a 3.5L V6 twin-turbo EcoBoost engine that pushes 600 horsepower at the fly. It does keep to the classical formula of a good sports car by being rear wheel drive and is mid-engine mounted.
"The Ford GT is the ultimate execution of an enthusiast supercar, delivering ultra-efficient EcoBoost performance, driver-centric technology and lightweight carbon fiber construction," said Raj Nair, Ford group vice president, Global Product Development, "Working with Microsoft and Turn 10 Studios allows us to share our all-new GT supercar with an unprecedented global audience, giving fans an opportunity to virtually experience the beauty, thrill and innovation of Ford's performance line-up."
Ford has really been focusing on promoting their Ecoboost technology, and it is clear they are using the Ford GT as their golden child for it.
On paper the Ford GT concept does seem to live up to its looks, but the proof is in the pudding, so keep your eye out for a review!
There currently is no pricing available for the Ford GT yet, but Ford has expressed that it will be a low production run to ensure exclusivity.
One can only imagine what a pretty penny, this pretty car will cost.
