'19 Kids and Counting' New Series News: TLC Considers Spin Off Despite Cancellation Rumors
According to rumors, TLC is not ready to drop 19 Kids and Counting all together. There has been talks of a spin off show in the works for the series, which will be focusing on the families of Jill Duggar and Derrick Dillard and Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald.
A source tells People magazine, that the focus of the original show had been moving in that direction anyway, so it makes sense.
"The show had begun to focus more and more on the next generation of Duggars, anyway -- mainly Jill and Jessa and their marriages and babies," says the source. "That's when the show got it's highest ratings."
TLC removed episodes of 19 Kids and Counting from it schedule shortly after the molestation scandal involving Josh Duggar surfaced.
However, the network has made no announcement regarding whether the show has been canceled or not.
The show has been losing advertisers left and right, though. Ace Hardware, David's Bridal and Pure Leaf Iced Tea have been the latest companies to pull their advertisements from the program.
Other companies who have already done so include General Mills Inc, Payless Shoesource Inc, Choice Hotels International Inc, and Walgreen Co.
In a statement regarding the accusations leveled against him, Josh said that he "acted inexcusably for which [he is] extremely sorry and deeply regrets."
He also stated that he confessed his actions to his parents who took action to address the situation and that he spoke with authorities and those affected by his actions, including himself were given counseling. "I would end up ruining my life," he said.
