‘19 Kids and Counting’ Latest News: Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald Did Not Kiss at Wedding
Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald went against the grain and did not kiss at the alter. Beyond that, other 'non-traditional' changes were made for their wedding on November 1.
Although Jessa Duggar was always a woman with a mind of her own, it came as a surprise when she and now Ben Seewald decided not to kiss on their wedding day.
The '19 Kids and Counting' reality star and her 19-year old husband were saving their very first kiss until after they were married.
The wedding was held at the First Baptist Church in Bentonville in the Duggar and Seewald's home state of Arkansas on Saturday, November 1.
However, after Pastor Mike Schadt introduced them as Mr. and Mrs. Seewald, the two surprised more than 1,000 guests at their wedding day, who were eagerly waiting for them to kiss-Schadt told everyone that the newlyweds would not be kissing then and there, and explained why.
So as not to disappoint everyone waiting for a "Duggar kiss," Schadt called on Duggar's Parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar to kiss in front of everyone instead.
"So, now you've seen a Duggar kiss," Schadt told People Magazine.
"They wanted their very first kiss ever to be in private. It was important to the both of them," Schadt continued.
The couple did eventually kiss during the reception, the guests saw the couple exchange several sweet kisses for the first time.
While the Duggars are known to be traditional - and the wedding saw some unconventional events, the reception had a share of unusual things as well.
Instead of the traditional cake, the couple served ice cream and brownies served with different toppings like caramel, chocolate, cookies and candies.
"I don't really like cake, we wanted ice cream sundaes instead," the 21 year-old told the magazine while they were planning their wedding, noting that she ate chocolate and her husband opted for mint chocolate chip.
Aside from that, the bride also wore a blush bridal ball gown rather than the traditional white.
Her wedding dress was from the modest line of Allure, the bodice filled with pearls and Swarovski crystals, and a satin skirt and customized tulle.
