'19 Kids and Counting' Jill Duggar & Derick Dillard News: New Parents Share Video Introducing Baby Israel
Jill Duggar and husband Derick Dillard shared a family video shortly after their newborn baby's birth on Tuesday, April 7th.
The new parents took the video in Jill's hospital bed, where they are cradling their new son, named Israel David, who was born on Monday April 6th at 11:49 pm.
Derick, 26, begins the video as he is laying on the hospital bed next to his wife, with his arm around her.
"Hey everybody," he begins "it's Derick and Kill Dillard, and we've got an exciting birth announcement. We're so excited to announce the birth of our son, Israel David Dillard."
Next, Jill adds her part of the announcement, telling viewers that the newborn weighs 9 pounds and 10 ounces, and was 23 inches tall.
She also added "Not everything went as expected. We were reminded of the verse that the Bible talks about where man plans his way but the Lord directs his steps. We were encouraged by that and yea, he's just a handsome little fellow."
Although Jill, the fourth child of TLC's 19 Kids and Counting stars Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, did not say exactly what did not go as planned, she did originally state that she wanted to give birth to her son at home.
However, in the video, she is clearly in the hospital, which means that the birth of her son required medical attention.
Jill, who is a midwife-in-training, said that she felt like a natural home birth would have been more relaxing and would include more personal care.
