13 Hours Movie Review, News: Michael Bay Turns Down His Explosive Style?
"13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi" was released on January 15, 2015 and there were a lot of praise from the movie as well as some criticism.
The movie is based on the book "13 Hours: The Inside Account of What Really Happened in Benghazi" by Mitchell Zuckoff. The screenplay is written by Chuck Hogan.
The Atlantic said that in "13 Hours," Michael Bay's ultimate goal is to tell a "jingoistic story" of bravery, overcoming ever opposing opponents against all odds.
According to The Rolling Stone, Michael Bay does not intend to use "13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi," as a battle cry against Hillary Clinton's opportunity at the Democratic presidential nomination. Clinton's name was never mentioned in the story.
It is merely the 50-year-old director's way of appreciating the six brave American security operators on the ground on September 11, 2012. It was when Islamic militants attacked and killed four Americans in Benghazi, Libya.
Michael Bay had to turn down his explosive style of action scenes because the CIA really doesn't result to blowing things up in their operations. But we all know his style, you can't call it a Michael Bay film without seeing any fire or flares going on in the film. That explains the fiery Mercedes. Also, viewers will be astonished at how the truck's wheels still work despite of catching fire.
The movie may be lacking of a few more perspectives of the story or even needs a bit more research for further detailing but Michael Bay still did a remarkable job and we should give him the credit he deserves.
