'100 Bullets' New Movie News: Tom Hardy To Produce And Star In Vertigo Comic Adaptation
The 'Mad Max: Fury Road' lead has recently been revealed to star in the New Line Cinema adaptation of the '100 Bullets' Vertigo comic book series.
Along with this, Hardy has been announced to also produce the big screen adaptation, making it a first for the rising actor.
"Steeped in noir and pulp fiction trappings, 100 Bullets debuted in 1999, telling the story of a mystery man known as Agent Graves who offers people that have been wronged a chance at retribution. The award-winning series ran for 100 issues, wrapping up in 2009," writes EW.
This project was actually teased by the actor in a recent interview with Collider:
"I actually got something cooking with Warner Bros. which is also a comic book, it's a DC thing which is kind of...It's really good actually, it contains elements of all kinds of stuff. From Ocean's Eleven, to Batman, you can get all the wrappers out and it would be a big, really cool, Technicolor, Pulp Fiction...It's a psychological f**kfest, it's absolutely awesome. It's as if you would take Transmetropolitan and make it happen, but it's not that out there it's something which is much more real world. It could be like Heat, it could be f**king awesome."
He also spoke on plans for it possibly becoming a television series, which it has also been revealed to have been flirted with.
"The project was previously in the chamber to be a television series with David Goyer involved and was also being developed as a movie by Akiva Goldsman's Weed Road," writes THR.
Hardy has been no stranger to comic book adaptations, as he's held the titular role of Bane in 'The Dark Knight Rises,' as well as nearly starring as Rick Flagg in the upcoming 'Suicide Squad' film.
The project doesn't currently have a release date.
