Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Specs & Release Date Rumors: Phablet to be Unveiled on Aug. 16?
If latest reports are to be believed, Xiaomi may unveil in highly anticipated Redmi Note 2 phablet on Aug 16. According to Mobipicker, the website spotted some hints regarding the device on Weibo. The hints were posted by IHS technology director Wang Yang and Xiaomi marketing manager Mr Tony.
According to Christian Today, Mobipicker quoted Mr. Tony's post on Weibo that reads, "Do not wait so long to see the side, right? 816 See Beijing."
Referring to Mr. Tony's post, Yan wrote, "Qiazhiyisuan, debut of the Redmi Note 2."
This suggests that Xiaomi will unveil the Redmi Note 2 at an event scheduled to be held in Beijing on Aug. 16. In addition to the smartphone, the Chinese tech giant is also expected to unveil its latest Android UI, the MIUI 7, at the event.
Meanwhile, Phone Arena reports that Aug. 16 very far off, at least by Xiaomi standards. According to the tech website, the said date is possibly a day that the tech firm would choose to call a press meet and offer some news regarding the smartphone deals or accessories.
As of now, Xiaomi itself has not made any official announcement in this regard. However, if the Redmi Note 2 is really going to be unveiled in two weeks, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer is expected to share additional details in the near future to make it official. However, currently Xiaomi seems to be maintaining a stoic silence on the subject.
Earlier, there were a number of leaks claiming that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 will sport a 5.5-inch Full HD display rendering a 401 ppi pixel density. It is expected to pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, but Phone Arena reports that the device will come in two versions - one version with a Snapdragon 615 chipset, while the second with MediaTek MT6795 SoC.
Irrespective of the processor unit Xiaomi chooses for the Redmi Note 2, the device is likely to come with 2 GB RAM and 8 GB or 16 GB expandable storage. It is also expected to boast a 13-megapixel primary rear camera alongside a 5-megapixel snapped together with either a 3100 or a 3020 mAh battery unit.
