Windows 10 Release Date, Features Rumors: Cortana Desktop Version in the Works, Similar to Mobile Phone App

For users of Microsoft's mobile phones, they are familiar with the personal assistant, Cortana. She is the company's version of the iPhone's Siri. She was named after a character in the Xbox game 'Halo' and now Microsoft is announcing that there will be a desktop version of Cortana.

On Friday, Microsoft showed a few countries some new pictures of the virtual assistant. However, they did warn that this version of Cortana is not quite ready to go viral yet. Right now, Cortana can help Microsoft users keep their notes, emails, and calendar in order.

She is basically a personal assistant on your phone. She also serves as the voice of your GPS and she can pull up all of your bookmarked websites and your musical play list on your phone.

When Windows 10 is unveiled, a lot of users are unsure of what Cortana will offer on their desktops. Nevertheless, the rumor is that it will premiere in January of 2015.

For the new Windows 10 operating system, when the user turns on their computer, a search bar will pop up. This is where Cortana will do your searching for you. Users can ask her where to find specific information just as they would on their smart phones. She can give you direction and pull up your music or favorite websites, just like on your phone.

Microsoft is very excited about the new Windows 10 and many PC users are excited as well. As the new operating system is revealed, we are bound to see just how efficient Cortana is on our desktop computers.
