‘Vampire Diaries’ Season 6 Release Date, Spoilers: Nina Dobrev Offers Advice to Elena; Damon Salvatore Not Returning
Vampire Diaries Season 5 ended with the heartbreaking death of Damon Salvatore, which makes it it highly unlikely that the character will reprise his role for the next season. Elena Gilbert was understandably devastated for losing the love of her life, but there are some bad endings that often lead to better turn of events.
Now that Mystic Falls is dominated with clashing clans of vampires, werewolves, doppelgangers, and Travelers, options to escape the place are diminishing. In an interview with BuzzFeed, actress Nina Dobrev has this advice for her character Elena, "Run. Like the wind. Get the [expletive] out of that town."
Vampire Diaries Season 6 focuses on the good and evil forces fighting within themselves. Executive producer Caroline Dries told Alloy Entertainment that the anti-magic boundary spell will still exist in the next season, "As the story unfolds we'll see the effects exile has had on everyone and see that everyone is handling it (and the loss of their loved ones) differently and personal journeys will form," she added.
In a Twitter post, director Jeffrey Hunt teased that Season 6 Episode 1 is "going to take you on an emotional roller coaster you may not be ready for. Suggest you start preparing now." There are also rumors that Elena might die in her desire to join Damon in another life.
Executive producer Julie Plec explained, "Elena loved Stefan. Elena's her best friend. Kind of a no-fly zone, which is why I think that if she has had any more-than-friend feelings she's pushed them away or convinced herself otherwise."
The Vampire Diaries returns on CW on October 2, Thursday at 8 PM EST.
