'True Detective' Season 2 Release Date, Cast Spoilers: Filming Postponed as Producers Still Undecided over Female Lead

If latest reports are to be believed, the filming for 'True Detective' Season 2 has been postponed as the producers are still searching for the female lead role in upcoming series installment..

The series was scheduled to premiere in the summer of 2015, but now it seems that there's a chance that the premiere date will stretch far beyond May or June.

Nevertheless, following several months of speculation, as well as an absence of any update, it now appears that the series is getting into shape vis-à-vis the cast, characters, plot, as well as setting.

The most recent reports say that Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn, and Taylor Kitsch have been confirmed to portray the three male lead roles in 'True Detective' Season 2. While the participation of Farrell and Vaughn was confirmed by HBO last month, Taylor Kitsch has also joined the cast of the series.

According to reports, Kitsch declined many promising projects and roles just to prepare himself to portray his character in 'True Detective'.

The actor has himself confirmed that he met the show creator Nic Pizzolatto to hash out his character. He says he is thrilled to be a part of a series which he happens to enjoy a lot.

On the other hand, the show creators have yet to confirm which actress will play the female lead.

There are rumors that say Rachel McAdams may be signed in by the producers to play the role of the female lead - a Californian sheriff named Ani Bezzerides who has been suffering from gambling and alcoholism problems.

Rumors also claim that Kelly Reilly, Abigail Spencer, Leven Rambin, and Michael Irby have also been included in the 'True Detective' Season 2 cast.

Irby is likely to portray the character of Elvis, who is a partner of the female lead in the show. Spencer will portray the character of a sexual assault survivor, while Rambin will play the role of a beautiful woman having a checkered past. Reilly, on the other hand, will portray the character that has been described as "the self-possessed Morgan."

As the producers and show creators have yet to finalize the remaining cast, they are unable to commence filming for 'True Detective' Season 2. According to earlier reports, the shooting for the show was scheduled to commence in September, but although it is already November, not a single scene has been shot.
