Marvel Studios Casting 'Black Panther' Role: New Movie on its Way to the Big Screen?

Rumor has it that Marvel Studios is looking to set classic superhero Black Panther up with his own film. Aside from that, other superheroes are allegedly being developed as well, such as Doctor Strange and Ant-Man.

A recent report claims that Marvel executives, producers, and comic book writers got together and bounced ideas off each other as to which characters the Burbank, California studio should bring to the table.

When news broke about a potential Marvel Black Panther movie, Morris Chestnut threw in his candidacy for the role of T'Challa. However, soon after his proposition, he retracted the statement and withdrew his bid.

Another actor speculated to assume the role of Black Panther T'Challa is '42' actor Chadwick Boseman. Boseman has also appeared on television in 'Fringe', 'Justified', and 'Castle'.

As it stands, rumors claim that the film's story and plot are still in development, however some background on the superhero himself might reveal some spoilers about the film.

The Black Panther is a character with superhuman characteristics and senses. His storyline has already appeared in the Marvel Universe in a number of films. More so, his civilization (Wakanda) known for its exclusive ore, Vibranium, is referenced in certain blockbuster films. Captain America's symbolic shield is made of Vibranium, as well as Black Panther's claws and armor.

In 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine', Wade Wilson, played by Ryan Reynolds, interrogated a villager about a rock they had seized in an earlier raid. The villager said "It came from the sky," which lead many to believe it was Vibranium.

Additionally, Black Panther is referenced in 'Iron Man 2' when Nick Fury looks at the maps early in the film. Two reference Captain America, one references Thor, and the last connects to Black Panther.

There is no official confirmation about a movie release or date as of yet, but Marvel fans can hope.
