EA Sports has recently announced that its upcoming football game 'Madden NFL 15' will be released for the next generation consoles, namely the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Aug. 26.

In a press release issued by EA earlier this year, the company assured that the upcoming game would be the "most immersive gameplay control in the history of the franchise." EA also released a teaser featuring Carolina Panthers lineback Luke Kuechly, who happens to be the leading "Defensive Player of the Year."

In fact, the teaser was released a while back, when the company did not make any announcement as to who would be on the game's cover. Earlier in July, EA undertook a poll to determine who would be on the cover of the game, and Seattle Seahawks corner Richard Sherman and Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton emerged the finalists securing 9.6 millions votes from the fans.

When the total number of votes polled was counted, Richard Sherman emerged the winner and it seemed that the game will have a "defensive theme" this year. Many find that the Superbowl champion and Seahawks standout was a good addition to the series as the face of 'Madden 15'.

EA Sports vice-president (global marketing) Anthony Stevenson said, "Richard Sherman is a fantastic cover athlete selection by the fans," adding, "Defense is a big focus for Madden NFL 15, and Sherman is one of the brightest defensive stars in the NFL. He shares the same energy and passion for the game as our 'legion' of Madden fans."

According to latest reports, Madden NFL 15 is scheduled for release on August 26 in the United States and August 29 in Europe.
