Furious 8 Release Date, Sequel News: Eighth Franchise Film to Release April 2017
The Fast and Furious franchise will not be coming to an end just yet! Vin Diesel and the crew will be returning for an eighth installment of the movie franchise.
Vin Diesel confirmed that Furious 8 has a release date at a CinemaCon panel in Vegas earlier this month. The planned release date for Fast and Furious 8 will be April 14th, 2017.
At the conference, Diesel, one of the lead actors in the series who has reprised his role in each installment, became emotional.
He struggled to hold back tears as he remembered how just two years prior, he and the late Paul Walker made the announcement that the seventh installment of the series would be released on the same stage in Las Vegas.
According to Variety, Diesel said, "We were giddy and excited. You ll gave me so much confidence. There was so much love."
Prior to the announcement being made, the audience watch the Paul Walker montage that was featured in the last few moments of Furious 7.
It has held the number one box office spot for three weeks in a row and has gained over $1.15 billion dollars across the globe and is estimated to make over $1.4 billion dollars all together. In fact, it is currently holding the record for the seventh highest grossing film of all time.
Once it hits $1.4 billion dollars, it will reach the fourth spot, behind Avatar, Titanic and Avengers. The Fast and Furious franchise has grossed over 3.5 billion dollars since its beginning. There have been no more details announced regarding the eighth film.
