'Downton Abbey' Season 5 Spoilers: Mary Decides on Marriage, Green's Murder Scene in the Spotlight
Downton Abbey fans reveled in the scandalous night, last Sunday, but it looks like all of our anticipation will come to fruition. Lady Mary will make a decision about Tony Gillingham in Episode 4 of the dramatic fifth season.
On last Sunday's episode, Lady Mary is being pressured to get married to Tony, although Mary does not want to. "I've been tarnished once and I won't be tarnished again," the lady told Tony. Meanwhile, the Dowager Countess is told that Mary and Tony were seen in a bedroom together before marriage. Lady Violet scolds, "A young woman of good family who finds herself in the bed of a man who is not her husband has invariably been seduced."
According to the official synopsis of episode 4, Mary will decide whether or not Tony seduced her, and if he is worth the marriage.
"Lord Merton (Douglas Reith) delivers a bombshell to Isobel (Penelope Wilton), and Mary does likewise to Tony," the synopsis reads. Both relationships will be taking a surprise turn, but in which direction? According to International Business Times, one of the relationships will be moving forwards, but the other will take "a step back."
Mr. Green's murder plotline will take the center stage once again as "police suspicions deepen in an unexplained death." It is possible that the police could be heading to Downton, next. Could Mr. Bates be free from speculation?
Sarah Bunting will also share a bit of the spotlight in episode 4. She will "lock horns" with Lord Grantham. She just can't seem to stop herself from irritating him!
Watch Downton Abbey when it returns on Sunday.
