'Chicago Fire' will return for its third season on NBC at 10 pm ET, Tuesday, Sept. 23, with its first episode entitled "Always."

The official 'Chicago Fire' Season 3, Episode 1 synopsis released by NBC reads, "Boden (Eamonn Walker) and the rest of the Firehouse 51 team deal with the explosion's aftermath in the Season 3 opener. Meanwhile, Casey searches for Severide, who's gone missing; Newhouse has surprising news about Mills' family; and Hermann and Otis make a decision about Molly's."

Fans of the show will see many familiar faces from the 'Chicago Fire' main cast, Jesse Spencer's Matthew Casey, Taylor Kinney's Kelly Severide, Charlie Barnett's Peter Mills, Monica Raymund's Gabriela Dawson, and Lauren German's Leslie Shay. However, the show creators have disclosed that some of the cast members will not be continuing with the show for the entirety of the season.

It has already been reported that the premiere episode "Always" will start from the accident in the last scene of Season 2 - "Real Never Waits" wherein nearly all the characters of the show were trapped inside in an exploding building.

There are speculations suggesting that it is possible that one or two major characters of the show won't succeed in escaping from the exploding warehouse. In fact, Nielsen Report quoted 'Chicago Fire' executive producer Matt Olmstead giving a hint in this regard.

In an interview with TV Guide, Olmstead said, "Not everybody makes it out of that building, and then certainly what people deal with in terms of the loss of whomever that character is, that's definitely what we're dealing with in the first episode and beyond."

TV Guide also shared the spoiler that Dawson may possibly be "saying goodbye to Firehouse 51." This came to light when the showrunner disclosed that "there will be a new face to ultimately fill in the role of the character that's not going to make it."
