Azealia Banks vs Iggy Azalea Feud: Macklemore Weighs In, Action Bronson Apology

The feud between Azealia Banks and Iggy Azalea continues to escalate with musicians such as Macklemore and Action Bronson joining in the fray and choosing sides between the two female rappers.

Azalea has been fielding accusations in the past months of appropriating hiphop culture without understanding its history, and "Thrift Shop" singer Macklemore recently decided to share his thoughts on the matter during an interview with Hot 97.

"You need to know your place in the culture. Are you contributing or are you taking? Are you using if for your own advantage or are you contributing? You cannot disregard where this culture came from and our place in it as white people," the artist said, though he took care not to mention any names in particular.

Macklemore also referred to himself as an example during the interview, saying, "This is not my culture to being with. I do believe that I need to know my place."

The rapper also talked about hip-hop artists, the issue of race and "white privilege," and stated he was conscious of other people's perception of him as a "white rapper," according to Refinery 29. He knew that parents considered him as "safe" and that it more acceptable for him to curse on a record because he was "white."

Macklemore also shared that there was "a lot of truth" in Banks' defense of hiphop culture, but also stated that he didn't want to get in the feud between the women.

Rapper Action Bronson also earned Banks' ire when he attempted to apologize to the female rapper.

Banks sent out a tweet on Dec. 30 saying that the man was trying to apologize to her, but instead of telling her directly, he texted a mutual friend of theirs to extend the apology.

The apology followed the argument between the two when Bronson told his fans and followers not to mention his name with the likes of Banks and Azalea, something to which Banks took offense. The argument escalated with both rappers insulting one another. However, while Bronson is apparently trying to make amends, Banks is not accepting it from a third party.

"What a Coward," Banks tweeted.
