Upcoming Android Phones 2014: Sony, Samsung Displaying New Android Phones at Berlin IFA 2014
Come September, smartphone enthusiasts will be flooded with a series of new Android handsets to choose from. Therefore, techies are seriously looking forward to the upcoming IFA 2014 event that will to kick off in Berlin in the first week of next month.
If latest news circulating on the Internet gives any indication, Sony has already begun preparations to draw plenty of public attention at the event with the launch of a number of smartphones with selfie-focused cameras. In fact, Sony seems to have acquired a new fondness for those kinds of smartphones.
A report with GSM Arena said it seems that the Japanese phone manufacturer is developing yet another selfie smartphone that bears resemblance to a perfume bottle. Some question whether that is even possible, but only time and official announcements can answer that one.
The supposed Sony selfie-focused smartphone will come with the standard smartphone body, but will have a rotating camera at the top. In other words, the phone's rear camera will be able to take the selfie shots or make video calls for the user.
However, what is odd about the upcoming phone is that that its rotating part is entirely made out of glass, barring the camera's sensor.
It is definitely not the first time that the consumers will be seeing a rotating camera with a smartphone. In fact, last year, Oppo was the first to introduce this concept with the N1 and it received good reviews in terms of the phone's design and aesthetics.
According to the GSM Arena report, the purported Sony selfie phone will come with a 1/2.3" Exmor RS sensor and dual-conversion Sony G lens for the camera. However, the camera's resolution is still unknown. The phone will also have a 3-inch display, some NFC capabilities for quick picture sharing and Wi-Fi support.
Sony is also scheduled to launch the Xperia Z3, which will have a 5.2-inch IPS LCD with 1080p resolution of its predecessor at the IFA, while we also expect Samsung to release its Galaxy Note 4 next month.
