'The Voice' 2016 News Update: 'Fallin' Singer Alicia Keys, Miley Cyrus Join As Judges; Show to Boost Ratings?

"Fallin" singer Alicia Keys and "The Climb" singer Miley Cyrus are set to be judges in season 11.

According to Today Pop Culture, Cyrus and Keys are set to replace Pharrell Williams and Gwen Stefani and join Adam Levine and Blake Shelton as judges of the singing talent show.

On Mar. 26, the "The Climb" artist confirmed NBC's announcement on Twitter. She tweeted a photo of herself in the studio, wearing her colorful outfit and with her tongue sticking out. In caption, Cyrus wrote that it was true that she was going to be the newest judge on Season 11 of "The Voice."

In his interview with the publication, NBC entertainment head Paul Telegdy said that when Cyrus spoke, everyone paid attention. He also mentioned that the artists on the show were very lucky to have the benefit of her instincts and wisdom. Telegdy added that the show viewers would be treated to an inside look at one of the brightest brains in the music and entertainment realm who was also a frontliner of pop culture.

On the other hand, Keys remained tight-lipped with regard the announcement. As per the publication, the "Fallin" artist had definitely some wisdom to share to the contestants, being a Grammy winner and 15 years experience in the music industry.

Keys and Cyrus' inclusion in NBC's "The Voice" 2016 has certain implications to the show itself, as per Washington Post. According to the publication, the female judges could bring positive changes to the shows ratings, which "have slipped" at some point, though it remained as one of the most-viewed shows on television in the United States. In addition, having two male and two female judges provides equilibrium when it comes to giving advice or mentorship to a particular contestant.

The new judges could also spice up the show, given the fact that the judges are usually rotated every season. This means that fans could see Pharrell or Stefani again at one point in the future.
