Episode 4 of "The Last Ship" season 3 will follow Tom Chandler as he goes up against his new foe. Tom Chandler is the captain of Nathan James who is resolute in saving the entire human race from the supposed virus mutation.

Titled "Devil May Care," the upcoming episode of the post-apocalyptic drama series sees Chandler continuing his Asian mission in his quest to save mankind. Official spoilers for the episode suggest that his suspected new enemy will show up and he will confront him in order to find the answers to his questions.

Meanwhile, Slattery and his team will learn more about the rumored virus mutation while they are being kept in an unknown far-flung asylum. Next episode, viewers of the series will find out more about this new threat and how it can tremendously impact the world. Elsewhere in the series, President Michener will be pressured by the mutation.

"The Last Ship" showrunner Hank Steinberg revealed that the plot of season 3 will be split between the action that will take place in Asia and the Presidency of Michener inside the White House in St. Louis.

"The drama is between geo-political issues of how to hold the country together and the question of how many resources should we give to saving the rest of the world when America is stretched very thin and trying to repair itself," he said.

According to actor Jocko Sims, the virus mutation might have been masterminded by President Peng of China, though that remains to be seen.
