While fans anticipate the 'Star Wars 7' film set for a December 18, 2015 release, they scour Internet media outlets for clues as to who has been cast in the upcoming blockbuster.

Benedict Cumberbatch, who is rumored to be in the new film, spoke to MTV about the casting for the 'Star Wars Epsiode 7' film.

The 'Sherlock' star simply mentioned the 'Mission Impossible' actor Simon Pegg's name which spun rumors about his appearance in the upcoming feature.

When Cumberbatch was asked if he himself was going to be acting in the film, he said, "J.J. and I are friends, so yeah, possibly."

After that, he continued by mentioning J.J Abram's prowess for things like this, and also mentioned Simon Pegg's name, "But I think J.J. is very good at creating something original out of something known, and I think apart from his continuing use of Simon Pegg - and who can blame him, frankly - it made sense not to do it.", he added.

Rumors about Simon Pegg joining the cast in the latest addition to the 'Star Wars' film saga was further fueled by his appearance on the set.

Pegg was spotted on the set of the movie, while they were filming in June, but he himself has not yet mentioned much about his participation in the installment.

Although Pegg has admitted that he visited the set, he has not made an official statement about his possible role in the film.
