'Spider-Man: Homecoming' Release Date, News: Donald Trump Set To Play Villain In Jon Watts’ Film?

With fans and Marvel preparing for Jon Watts' upcoming "Spider-Man: Homecoming," it is revealed that a character has been linked to presidential nominee Donald Trump.

Trump has been attached to the Marvel character MODAAK or "Mental Organism Designed as America's King." The character's name was based on MODOK, which stands for "Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing," as per Australia Network News.

Various tweets on Trump-MODAAK link have surfaced previously. On July 3, Twitter user spider-boy tweeted MODOK's photo from the Marvel comics. In caption, he wrote "om*g donald trump is officially a marvel villain."

On July 4, Neil Ackerman also tweeted a MODOK comic strip, with Captain America hitting the villain hard. He wrote "Art imitaing Real Life: Donald Trump Is MODOK (Big Headed Tiny Handed Villain) In New Marvel Comic.

In the Marvel Comics storyline, MODOK is one of the iconic villains Captain America have faced. The two characters fought when the latter made an attempt to rescue S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Sharon Carter from MODOK's territory Advanced Idea Mechanics (AIM). On June 29, the character made his debut in the first issue of "Spider Gwen," written by Jason Latour.

Directed by Watts', "Spider-Man: Homecoming" stands as a reboot of the film franchise under Marvel. It is the studio's coming-of-age film starring Angourie Rice, Logan Marshall-Green, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Michael Keaton, Selenis Leyva, Marisa Tomei, Martin Starr, Robert Downey Jr., and Tom Holland as the new Spider-Man.

Watts' "Spider-Man: Homecoming" is slated to be released on July 7, 2017.
