'Spider-Man: Homecoming' News: Jona Xiao Slated To Join Cast

The roster of casting choices for "Spider-Man: Homecoming" continues to grow, with more actors joining the huge list in recent time. Alongside Tom Holland and Marisa Tomei, Zendaya Coleman and Michael Keaton are reportedly joining the cast to portray Mary Jane Watson and The Vulture, respectively.

Following the casting announcement involving Coleman and Keaton, another piece of news comes as a pleasant surprise for fans-- Actress Jona Xiao has also landed on the cast of the upcoming "Spider-Man" film. However, details on her role remains kept under wraps.

News about Xiao's role in the film first came out through Variety. The actress was most recently featured on "Halt and Catch Fire." Her upcoming projects include "Keeping Up with the Joneses," "Kroll Show" and "Days of Our Lives."

Considering her strong background in a wide range of genres, it is hard to speculate where Xiao will land on the cast. While many of the roles in the upcoming film remain a mystery, film director Jon Watts recently opened up about the roles that some of the cast members are going to portray.

He confirmed that Tony Revolori will play Flash Thompson, Jacob Batalon will play Ned Leeds, and Laura Harrier will play Liz Allan. He also mentioned that Zendaya will play a lady named Michelle, who is possibly the younger adaptation of Peter's roommate Michelle Gonzalez from the original comics.

In 2017, Xiao will be in Fox's "Gifted" with Captain America's Chris Evans, Octavia Spencer and Jenny Slate.

"Spider-Man: Homecoming" is set to hit theaters on July 7, 2017.
