'Snow White and the Huntsman 2' Release Date: 'The Huntsman' Drops Kristen Stewart? Film Premiere Date April 2016

Following the massively successful and highly controversial 'Snow White and the Huntsman' which was released in 2012, Universal Studios recently announced the official release date for the blockbuster hit's second installment, 'The Huntsman', which is scheduled for an April 22, 2016 premiere.

The Huntsman will still be featuring 'Thor' actor Chris Hemsworth in the primary role, and Charlize Theron as the evil queen, while the rest of the cast is still undisclosed for the time being.

It also still remains unclear if Snow White, Kirsten Stewart, will still be cast in the movie's sequel. Although reports previously claimed that Stewart would no longer be a part of 'The Huntsman', a recent interview with the 'Twilight' star has given contradicting information.

The star has been quoted as saying that she is 'very excited' about the upcoming film, but pressed on to say that she is not allowed to say anything just yet.

The original 'Snow White and the Huntsman' film has been a certified blockbuster hit with a $56 million opening weekend and nearly $400 million accumulated domestic and international earnings to date. The first film was directed by Rupert Sanders, who sparked massive controversy when his extra-marital affair with actress Kirsten Stewart made endless headlines and later on became grounds for the latter's sensational breakup with 'Twilight' co-star Rob Pattinson.

'The Huntsman' will be written and directed by Frank Darabont with the help of David Koepp. Darabont was executive producer to AMC's 'The Walking Dead' Season 1 while Koepp was a writer on 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull', as well as 'Spider-Man'.
