Russell Wilson Proclaims Faith Through Super Bowl XLVIII Win; 'It's a True, True Blessing, God is so Good'
Last night's Super Bowl crowned a new NFL champion; the Seattle Seahawks, led by Russell Wilson, a man with a strong self-professed faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
"It's a true, true blessing. God is so good. We believed we would get here. At the beginning of the season I told our guys, 'Hey, why not us?' We believed that we could get here. We had the talent. We had the coaching staff..." said Wilson to reporters following the biggest win of his career yesterday.
Super Bowl XLVIII was a battle between the sixteen year veteran Denver Broncos' QB Peyton Manning and the second year Seahawks QB Wilson. However, the Seahawks dominated the Broncos in every facet of the game, which was highlighted by the safety play in the opening seconds of the game. Seahawks won by the final score of 43-8 at Metlife Stadium in New Jersey.
"Jesus is love," Wilson along with other Christian Seahawk members said in a previous YouTube interview with Pastor Mark Driscoll days prior to the Super Bowl. "At the end of the day, we are all looking for someone to comfort us, somebody to be there for us at all times. When we are at the worst times of our lives, when we are battling with something, or struggles, whatever it may be, when we are at our highest point as well, when things are going really well, we want somebody to comfort us and be there for us and to say, 'Well done.' That's Jesus. Jesus has always been there. He'll never leave you, never forsake you."
"Literally, Jesus is the greatest treasure in the universe," said Seahawks Assistant Coach Rocky Seto, in his interview along with Wilson last month. "It just makes sense. It's not like you give up your life and then you get something worse. He gave us everything. We had nothing, He gave us everything, so literally it's just one plus one equals two, it's that simple. Jesus is better than anything... even better than the Super Bowl, better than an NFL career, any of that."
Last night Wilson shared his thoughts to the world just moments after winning the big game.
"...We have the best fans in the National Football League. We wanted to win it all, and we just said go 1-0. That was our mentality throughout the whole (season). We continued to fight. We continued to grow together. We have great teammates, and I couldn't have done it without the guys," said Wilson.
