Pop singing sensation Rihanna continues to take her art further from her music and on to her body as recently received a cross tattoo on her forearm.

Rihanna, the 25-year-old singer from Barbados, got the crossdone by popular New York City tattoo artist Bang Bang who has also famously tattooed Justin Bieber.

It is said the singer has 22 tattoos in total with many of them having some sort of a spiritual or mystical meaning. "I am so intrigued by tattoos. It's an entire culture, and I study it. I like hanging out in tattoo shops," Rihanna told Atlanta Peach Magazine in 2007.

"I love tattooing @rihanna," Bang Bang wrote on his Twitter account about the "Umbrella" singer.

Bang Bang has apparently done around 15 of her numerous tattoos. He said in a magazine interview, "She [Rihanna] always flips out [when it's done] and jumps up and down like a 16-year-old girl getting her first car."

The Billboard award winner also has an Arabic phrase on her ribcage area reading, 'Al Hurria fi Al Maseeh' which translates to "Freedom in God." On March 2012, she got a small and simple cross tattooed on her left collarbone. In an interview with US Weekly, artist Bang Bang said:

"We cut the color with water, so it'll end up being light - like the 'rebell' tattoo on her neck," Bang Bang, 26, described to Us Weekly about Rihanna's cross ink. He added that she decided to place her tattoo on her collarbone because it is easy for her to cover with a necklace but also can be in plain view. "She loved it," Bang Bang, told Us.

Rihanna revealed to Oprah in a 2012 interview about some of the symbolic meanings of her tats, "I have a falcon here, which is an Egyptian falcon, which is supposed to stand for God. Back in the day, they would carve into the walls and they would carve a falcon because they didn't have another way of saying a king in the sky," she said.

Rihanna's spiritual beliefs may have raised questions for some on social media in the past as many critics associate her to the Illuminati, an alleged elite group using subliminal messages to influence the world. However, the 24-year-old singer has been very vocal about her support of Christian minister and author Joyce Meyer.

"@JoyceMeyer you're awesome," Rihanna told the minister via Twitter.

"Get into her books," Rihanna tweeted a fan about the minster.

Omarion, Evans' former labelmate and one of Rihanna's former friends, spoke to The Boombox about her involvement in the evil side of the music industry.

"I don't personally know Rihanna's beliefs but I think there's a very dark and very sinister part of the entertainment business and I think it's very visible. I don't know if Rihanna [has fallen victim to those pressures]," Omarion said in the 2009 interview. "I've never really heard her speak about it. I hope that she doesn't believe in that stuff and I don't think that she does, but I don't know."
