'Ray Donovan' Renewed for Season 3? New Season Set for 2015 Premiere Date?
The Season 2 finale of 'Ray Donovan' entitled "The Captain" just concluded on Sunday and now it has been confirmed that the crime drama television series on Showtime has been renewed for a third season, which will air sometime in 2015.
In fact, Showtime had renewed both 'Ray Donovan' as well as 'Masters of Sex' in August this year. On that note, 'Ray Donovan' will have 12 episodes in Season 3.
A statement issued by Showtime president David Nevins reads, "These acclaimed shows are filled with complex and interesting characters and settings that will no doubt give audiences compelling television to invest in for seasons to come."
'Ray Donovan' Season 1 premiered on Showtime on June 30, 2013, while Season 2 of the show began on July 13, 2014. Both, Seasons 1 and 2 were wrapped in late September.
According to Bustle, filming for 'Ray Donovan' Season 3 will start in early 2015, at the regular Calabasas locations. However, it is still not clear whether the information is based off an actual source or it is based on the filming schedules for the past two seasons.
In the meantime, Hank Azaria, who portrays the character of Ed Cochran in the show, told Vulture that his character is "a creep."
Azaria said, "He's at least a borderline sociopath. He starts out so straight and you kind of root for him to clean up the situation and he ends up being the worst of them all. So he's not a particularly likable guy,"
He went on to mention, "But I've had a lot of fun playing him, and hopefully people love hating him. Unless the suitcase comment was just about my acting, in which case I can only apologize. Or stuff myself into a suitcase, I guess."
