Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 News, Release Date: Asus Zenfone Leaks Specs Performance

Qualcomm has announced the Snapdragon 821 which is promised to be 10% better compared to the Snapdragon 820. Meanwhile, the Asus will feature the full power of the processor with its Zenphone 3 Deluxe.

According to the announcement on its website, Qualcomm said that they are building on the success of the 820 platform to build a faster processor and enhance app performance without consuming too much power. Apparently, the new processor can reach speeds of up to 24GHz.

However, the chipset manufacturer also shared the news about the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 not replacing the 820 despite the faster specs. It makes sense considering that the chipset is being used to run 115 smartphones in the market today.

"Rather than replace the Snapdragon 820, the 821 is designed to complement and extend the competitive strengths of our Snapdragon 800 lineup," it said.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 will reportedly have a release date of the second half of 2016.

In related news, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 will be featured in the Asus Zenphone 3 Deluxe. The specs of the mobile includes a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED with 6 GB of RAM.

However, there's another Zenphone that will be launched next year but will be powered by the Snapdragon 820. So clearly, the announcement of the Snapdragon 821 doesn't mean that Qualcomm will be dropping the current gen chipset.

Meanwhile, there are news reports which alleged that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 will be powering the Galaxy Note 7 as well as the Google Nexus 2016. According to the Bit Bag, there are even talks about the new chipset being able to support VR headsets.
