‘Notebook’ TV Show News: Television Adaptation in the Works; Lead Actors Yet to be Named
Having already had a feature adaptation, Nicholas Sparks' bestselling novel "The Notebook" is now coming as a television show, which is reported to be already in the works. Moreover, it is expected that the author himself will be associated with the show as its executive producer.
IB Times reports that 'The Notebook' will tell the story of the romantic journey of lead characters Noah and Allie. The two characters were essayed by Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams respectively in the 2004 movie.
Entertainment Weekly states that the official synopsis of the show reveals that it will be set in the North Carolina of late 1940s.
The synopsis reads, "This series will follow the romantic journey of the two beloved central characters Noah and Allie, at the outset of their blossoming relationship as they build their lives and their future together against the backdrop of the racial politics, economic inequities, and social mores of post-World War II of the late 1940s in North Carolina."
Speaking at a Television Critics Association panel, The CW president Mark Pedowitz discussed about the upcoming show, and said that it is not likely the older Noah and Allie will also feature in the television show.
Mail Online quotes Pedowitz as saying, "The Notebook is a very, very well-received book and motion picture. It is going to be set after World War II. At this point the pilot's not done - I do not believe we are going to see the older couple. Things change, we are now at the very beginning of the development stage."
While the show creators are yet to announce the names of actors who will play the lead actors, rumors on the Internet suggest that fans are not very enthusiastic to see a new version of "The Notebook." In fact, the Internet is abuzz with comments from fans who desire Gosling and McAdams to reprise their roles as Noah and Allie in the television adaptation.
One fan commented on the Internet, "The only way this could measure up is if Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling are Ali and Noah. I don't see that happening." Another fan questioned, "Just because it can be done, does not mean it should be, Why change a great movie into what will be an average show for TV... Where are all the creative people that used to come up with original ideas?"
Meanwhile, Bustle has collected a list of actors who it considers would be perfect for the lead roles. They include Dylan O'Brien, Ansel Elgort, Chloe Grace Moretz and Kaitlyn Dever.
