New York Giants News: Jason Pierre Paul Has Finger Amputated After Fireworks Accident

For Jason Pierre-Paul, his attempt at celebrating the Fourth of July went terribly wrong.

The twenty six year old New York Giants defensive end injured both of his hands in an accident involving fireworks in South Florida, and ended up having to get his right index finger amputated.

Of course the question on every Giants fan's mind is whether or not Pierre-Paul will be able to play for the time in the 2015-2016 NFL Season.

According to reports from ESPN, Pierre- Paul had his finger amputated on July 8th. He also suffered from fractures to his right thim.

The fractures should take about six weeks to heal and he should be able recover from the amputation in three weeks.

Pierre Paul also went through several surgeries for his injuries and remains hospitalized for the next few days.

Even with his injuries, the player should be able to return to the field faster than people would think, according to the sports news outlet. He is still expected to be able to play in the 2015-2016 season.

Pierre Paul is not technically bound to a contract with the Giants because he has not signed his one year franchise tender as yet.

The deadline for long term contracts is July 15th, and he had a good season as a professional player in the 2014 season.

Pierre Paul was not the only NFL player to suffer from hand injuries during the Independence Day weekend, surprisingly.

C.J. Wilson, who is a cornerback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost two of his fingers in a fireworks accident.

In addition, Pierre Paul could face a charge of criminal possession of fireworks.
