Marvel 75 Year Anniversary News: Celebrates With Primetime Special on ABC Network

A one-hour primetime special, 'Marvel 75 Years: From Pulp to Pop!' was aired on ABC, Tuesday night, in celebration of Marvel's 75th anniversary.

'Marvel 75 Years: From Pulp to Pop!' took young and old Marvel fans on a journey through decades with the people who lived during the golden age of comic books.

The show was hosted by Emily VanCamp, star of ABC's 'Revenge' and actress in 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier', a Marvel film.

ABC Network's TV series, 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.', which is based on Marvel comics, was given the week off to give way to the air of the primetime special.

The anniversary special is about Marvel's history from 1939 to present, and at the same time, provided an extraordinary peek into Marvel's future.

'Marvel 75 Years: From Pulp to Pop!' went back in early years when the late Martin Goodman, an editor and publisher, responded to the success of Superman by making superhero titles, according to Variety.

The Human Torch, Captain America and Sub-Mariner became widely known because of the management of the writer Joe Simon and artist Jack Kirby.

Stanley Lieber, a cousin of Goodman's wife, also known as Stan Lee, later assisted Simon and Kirby. In fact, in the early '60s, Lee and Kirby collaborated on a series of new titles.

After a few years, the collaborations had given birth to the Fantastic Four, the Hulk, the X-Men, the Avengers, Iron Man and Ant-Man, plus Spider-Man and Dr. Strange, according to Variety.

'Marvel, 75 Years: From Pulp To Pop!' encompassed many of the company's highlights together with a few negatives to provide a well-balances history of the comic book legend.
