'Law and Order: SVU' Season 16 Spoilers, Cast News: Peter Scanavino Set to Continue Role in Series

Rumors about 'Law and Order: SVU' Season 16 recently claimed that Peter Scanavino's character, Carisi, would be killed off in one of the upcoming episodes. However, fans can rest assured that his character is not going to be written off, for now.

Speculations were rife as to whether he'll still be on the cast, but a new report from TV Guide has shown that he has been promoted to series regular.

Beyond all that, and according to NBC, this newest detective is a hotshot with boyish looks from Staten Island who came in to fill in for Amaro. He is seen as a bit overeager and even showed up to work a day early to get a head start on the Ellie Porter murder case.

He already guest starred in the episode "Monster's Legacy" as Johnny Dubcek, and most fans like that his acting is different from Amaro's.

The showrunner, Warren Leight, told TV Guide, "One of the things I learned when we had Rollins and Amaro as new detectives - when I did a little back sling early on, it seemed that the audience wasn't ready for it. They want to see the guy in action before they get to know how he got to be who he is".

TV Line says he was not the most liked on the team. It's never been easy being the new guy on the team, but Olivia will definitely tutor him and help him learn the ropes. He is introduced on the season premiere, which also finds Olivia juggling work in her new role as foster mother to Noah.
