Valve Corporation has finally stepped out of its shell and provided eager 'Half-Life' fans some updates about the upcoming third installment to the videogame series.

Fans were almost certain that Valve would announce the release date of 'Half-Life 3' at the E3 2014, but that did not happen. However, there is some confirmation about the production status of 'Half-Life 3'.

A recent report by the Christian Post quoted a former Valve employee Minh Le revealing that 'Half Life 3' is currently under production. Minh Le said, "I think it's kind of public knowledge that people know that it is being worked on. And so if I were to say that yeah, I've seen some images - like some concept art of it - that wouldn't be big news to be honest."

On a side note, it seems that the 'Half-Life' series has strayed from what it was originally intended to be.

In an interview with the Washington Post, Valve Corporation's Gabe Newell shared, "When we started out we were a single-player video game company that could have been really successful just doing Half-Life sequel after Half-Life sequel, but we collectively said let's try to make multiplayer games even though there's never been a commercial successful multiplayer game."

Newell further said, "Then we tried to do Steam. There were a bunch of people internally who thought Steam was a really bad idea, but what they didn't think was that they would tell the people who were working on Steam what to do with their time. They were like 'that's what you want to do with your time, that's fine, but we're going to spend our time working on Half-Life 2. We think you're kind of wasting your time, but it's your time to waste'."

According to another report, keeping Minh Le's assurances, fans should not give up on 'Half Life' just yet. It is reported that 'Half Life 3' has been crowd-sourced to offer fans the best possible gameplay and graphics. Therefore, the development of the game is taking a lot longer than anticipated.

Some rumors go as far as to project a release date, they claim that 'Half-Life 3' may be released in mid-2015.
